Marta Members celebrate New Growth at Recent Brand Summit
Marta Membership held their annual Spring Meeting at the Brand Summit in Dallas during the last week of March.
Chairman of the Board, John Rice (DeSear’s) opened the meeting with the spirit of optimism. While 2006 was a year of transition, much was accomplished and today, Marta is leaner and stronger than before.
Treasurer Michael Fischer (Nielsen’s) provided membership with an in depth financial review which demonstrated the strong financial position of Marta. His report concluded that the transition of 2006 made Marta more financially solid than ever before and is positioned for future growth.
Newly named Managing Director, Bob Thompson reviewed the many benefits Marta now provides its membership that were never before possible. During 2006 Marta members received more Member Services, while lowering operating expenses, which resulted in a dues reduction. All of these actions created more value to each individual Marta member. “At this time the ‘right sizing’ is complete and Marta is poised to grow and prosper in the future” stated Thompson. To add evidence to the statement, Thompson submitted 3 applications to the Board of Directors for approval as new members.
Following the Marta Member meeting the Marta Members enjoyed the benefit of participating in the Buying Fair. During the show, Marta Members were able to purchase special deals, participate in a variety of educational seminars and meet with top officials from their major suppliers.
MARTA Cooperative of America is a national Buying Group, founded in 1965, that formed an alliance with AVB Inc. in 2006. The group continues to operate under its original charter and principles of delivering member value through strong programming and comprehensive member services.
