MARTA was formed in 1965 by twelve independent appliance and electronics retailers, as a member-owned, not-for-profit, buying cooperative serving a select group of retailers in the appliance and electronics industry.

MARTA Cooperative of America is a not-for-profit, growth oriented buying group. Comprised of member/owners, MARTA members unite together to use their buying power to negotiate and gain maximum benefits and maintain a competitive position in the marketplace.
With MARTA’s newly formed strategic alliance with AVB/Brand Source MARTA members can now enjoy full access to Brand Source’s numerous services and backroom functions, including merchandising programs, cross-dock delivery options and Expert Finance arrangements. Together our annual sales volume is $10 billion.
The benefits and services of MARTA flow exclusively to the shareholders’ company of record in a manner that is equal to all members and for the good of the entire group.
